Slipstream Cyber expands to Perth CBD, bolsters cyber security offering

New location and combined office with Interactive will strengthen Slipstream Cyber’s national offering and develop digital talent

Slipstream Cyber, a specialised firm that offers 24/7 cyber defence and advisory services, has opened its new office in Perth in a ribbon-cutting ceremony officiated by the Hon Stephen Dawson, Minister for Science and Innovation.

This signifies Slipstream Cyber’s growth and commitment to supporting the critical cyber security needs of businesses today. The company focuses on industries with high cyber security demands, including financial services, manufacturing, professional services, health care (including aged care), and mining. These sectors depend on continuous, proactive cyber security measures to maintain business resilience at both a local and national level.

Australian businesses report a cyber incident every six minutes and take an average of almost 200 days to detect security breaches. Backed by a team of 60 specialists, Slipstream Cyber has expanded its national customer base by 20 per cent over the past 12 months, actively supporting Australian businesses.

The new office, centrally located in Perth’s CBD, brings together the Slipstream Cyber office and Interactive, one of Australia’s leading IT service providers, which acquired Slipstream Cyber in 2023. Born in Western Australia, Slipstream Cyber benchmarks, strengthens and safeguards cyber security postures for businesses across the country.

Hon Stephen Dawson MLC, Minister for Regional Development; Ports; Science and Innovation; Medical Research and Minister for the Kimberley, says it is positive to see an organisation in cyber security like Slipstream Cyber reach this milestone.

“We recognise that cyber security is critical to businesses across key sectors across Western Australia including finance, healthcare and mining. The continued success of Slipstream Cyber shows there is a great opportunity for Western Australian innovators to make their mark right here as well as create job opportunities. Congratulations to the team.”

Nick Scholefield, Managing Director, Slipstream Cyber, says the office opening demonstrates Slipstream Cyber’s commitment to Australian businesses.

“We’re excited to move into the new office and have a consolidated location in Perth with both our Interactive and Slipstream Cyber teams. By consolidating our presence, we’re fostering deeper collaboration between our teams to provide unparalleled cyber security solutions. Western Australia plays a crucial role in Australia’s economy, particularly in technology and critical infrastructure, making this the perfect time to expand our footprint. Slipstream Cyber has built a reputation as a trusted partner, delivering first class, national cyber security capabilities with a strong local presence.”

Beyond cyber security services, Slipstream Cyber is actively investing in the future workforce. This is especially important given Australia will need 1.3 million technology workers by 2030 – 100,000 more than the government’s target, according to an Australian Computer Society (ACS) analysis.

To help bridge this gap, Slipstream Cyber participates in the Work Integrated Learning Program with Edith Cowan University and has placed 20 graduates in the last five years.

Sam Phelan, Work Integrated Learning Coordinator at Edith Cowan University said it’s more important than ever to equip students with skills to close the digital gap.

“Slipstream Cyber has been an invaluable partner to our Work Integrated Learning Program placements, which excites our students and helps us stand out against other tertiary course offerings. By empowering students with real world experience, networking, and technical and professional development, we are working towards bridging gaps in the digital skills shortage one cohort at a time.”

Slipstream Cyber’s new office is located at Level 1, 40 Esplanade, Perth WA 6000.
