A cloud with flexibility and security
As a leading global supplier of technology systems and software for the insurance industry, SSP is there to help insurers and brokers operate more effectively within the market.
Because of this, it is essential for their internal systems to work seamlessly as well. Responding to growing industry demand, SSP launched a series of new cloud-based digital insurance products but required a cloud partner to assist in the migration and hosting.
They required the cloud to offer flexibility and scalability for ongoing software upgrades but also needed high level security due to their client base. All insurance companies in Australia are governed by the Australian Prudential Regulation Authority (APRA) and must meet high-level security requirements. As insurance is the industry SSP deal in, they also must adhere to strict guidelines and policies for their clients. Because of this, security was a primary focus for SSP and needed a cloud platform that could offer that level of assurance.
Gaining a competitive edge through platform scalability
SSP found that the private cloud could offer an elastic cloud environment they needed for the new software deployment.
Being locally based in Melbourne, SSP was able to rely on Interactive experts to support them during the implementation of complex insurance applications. The combination of an elastic private cloud environment, automated configuration, deployment and centralised management gives SSP the efficiencies and scalability required to quickly and cost-effectively:
- deploy new customer environments
- adjust capacity to meet the usage demand of existing solutions, or
- deploy test and development environments to support new insurance services or innovations
Replacing the underlying platform is a once in a generation activity for most insurers. With Interactive as our private cloud provider, we don’t have to worry about the infrastructure and can just focus on the software.”
- Paul Miller, General Manager, APAC at SSP
The solution have given SSP a competitive edge. As Interactive’s private cloud was lower cost to implement, their customers can be more strategic in how they adopt their solutions.
In addition, Interactive has able to provide SSP with peace of mind knowing their cloud partner already adheres to strict security regulations. With a track record of supporting clients in the financial services industry, Interactive already has in place strict regulatory regimes, including APRA requirements, allowing SSP to focus on software implementation instead of security measures.
Ongoing support, post-migration
Since going live with the solution, SSP has maintained impressive uptime and continuity of services to all its customers.
Interactive’s cloud architects also assist SSP during the configuration, testing and data migration phases of their customer projects. Utilising SSP’s cloud-based model, implementation time has been significantly reduced. SSP customers are also provided with greater flexibility to refine their products, innovate using the platform or develop new service offerings.
In addition, Interactive’s solutions have helped to address any concerns SSP customers may have in terms of security, data management, business continuity and disaster recovery, as well as compliance with APRA guidelines and key industry certifications.
The successful transition from on-premise and hosted customer deployments to Interactive’s managed private cloud has given both SSP and its customers peace of mind in the security, reliability and performance of the underlying infrastructure, while at the same time delivering all the benefits of a software-as-a-service (SaaS) model.
SSP is now well placed for future cloud migration with Interactive’s ongoing managed services support.
